freelance writer, content creator, journalist and photographer
First a little history in a nutshell: My writing roots go way back to my childhood and became the foundation of my post-secondary pursuits in history/politics (Brock University '97) and journalism (Sheridan College '98).
For nearly two decades I've enjoyed a diverse career in journalism and communications where I've worked for the Reading Chronicle in the UK, the Ottawa Sun, the Maple Leaf (newspaper of the Canadian Armed Forces), the Ottawa Humane Society and the Government of Canada. Most recently, I worked at CBC Ottawa where I wrote stories, took photographs, assisted with social media campaigns and engaged the community at various community events.
Career paths are rarely straightforward. My unique path from journalist to communications/public affairs advisor to my time in the classroom as an educational assistant has given me new insight that I can apply to my work each day. I strive to use my expertise and experiences to create well-written, creative and engaging articles and content. I particularly love writing about the environment, conservation, travel, lifestyle and human interest stories.
